Rep. Mark Takano Statement On Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's Speech To Congress

Washington DC - Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA) released the following statement after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a speech to a joint session of Congress: 

 

“I thank Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for speaking to a joint session of Congress earlier today and I remain committed to keeping Israel safe from terrorism. However, I believe it is in the best interest of Israel, and the Middle East as a whole, to continue our current diplomatic course with Iran.  With Iran’s President Rouhani showing an interest in negotiating, and the continued economic sanctions, the international community is at a better position than ever to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. While there may be bumps in the road, this course will undoubtedly give the Middle East the best opportunity for a lasting peace.”
