Rep. Mark Takano to Introduce Comprehensive For-Profit College Legislation to Protect Students
Washington, DC – On Wednesday, July 30 at 2:00pm, Rep. Mark Takano will hold a press conference to announce the PRO Students Act (Protections and Regulations for Our Students Act) - a comprehensive piece of legislation intended to protect students from questionable for-profit colleges. Rep. Susan Davis and Rep. Steve Cohen, who are co-leads of the PRO Students Act, will also attend.

Background Information: Rep. Mark Takano is a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and spent more than 20 years are a public school teacher. Takano supports a strong gainful employment rule and has fought legislation that would loosen for-profit college regulations.
Rep. Susan Davis is also a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and serves on the Higher Education and Workforce Training Subcommittee.
Rep. Steve Cohen introduced the HR 3496, the POST Act of 2013, which is included in the PRO Students Act.
