Rep. Takano Announces California-Based Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems (ARCHES) as Department of Energy Funding Finalist
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) announced that the California-based Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems (ARCHES) has been selected as a Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (H2Hub) by the Department of Energy.
Selection by the Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) begins the process of negotiations to secure an estimated $1.2 billion in federal funding secured by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The California Hydrogen Hub will introduce clean hydrogen energy to heavy duty transport, trucking, port operations, and public transportation. This Hub aims to reduce carbon emissions by 2 million metric tons per year – the equivalent of the annual emissions of 445,000 gas powered cars.
“I’m thrilled by ARCHES’s selection as a H2Hub finalist by the Department of Energy. I cast my vote for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to expand our nation’s energy security while working towards cleaner emissions – and California will be a leader in this transition,” Rep. Takano said. “The Biden-Harris Administration’s prioritization of clean energy production will bring over 220,000 direct jobs through construction and day-to-day operations, while at the same time reducing air pollution through this new clean energy.”
Rep. Takano released an Air Quality Report for the 39th District outlining the effects and remedies for air pollution in the Inland Empire. Read the full report here.
