Rep. Takano Announces UCR-Led Consortium as Recipient of Department of Commerce Strategy Development Grant
RIVERSIDE, CA -- The Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration announced the selection of the Lithium Valley Clean Tech Strategy Development Consortium for a Strategy Development Grant.
The Consortium, selected out of a pool of over 100 projects, is led by the University of California, Riverside and seeks to implement sustainable extraction methods of lithium. This will strengthen and position the Inland Empire as a leader in a national lithium-based energy supply chain.
The Strategy and Development Grants are a part of the Biden-Harris Tech-Hub program, an initiative to drive regional production and maintain American innovation and competitiveness.
Rep. Mark Takano released the following statement following the selection:

I’m thrilled to see the University of CaliforniaRiverside play a critical role in the securing of our energy supply chain. I was proud to vote for the Chips and Science Act to empower this administration and the Department of Commerce to make investments in Southern California, and in our future.”
