Rep. Takano Celebrates the Two-Year Anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act
RIVERSIDE, CA — Representative Mark Takano (CA-39) released the following statement marking the two-year anniversary since President Biden signed the transformational Inflation Reduction Act into law:
“Today marks two years since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). I am proud to have voted for this landmark legislation which equips the Biden-Harris administration with programs to invest in our communities and make a greener and healthier future.
“California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District will receive nearly $500 million to decarbonize goods movement from the Ports of LA and Long Beach. This will improve air quality in the IE by lowering emissions from transportation.
“The IRA also helps families save money on energy bills through rebates for upgrading appliances and improving home efficiency. California has been hard at work getting this program ready to launch, and I look forward to seeing these rebates soon.
“Californians have paid triple the cost for medications compared to people in other countries. By 2030, 80 medications will be eligible for Medicare price negotiation thanks to the IRA, lowering costs for more than 5 million Californians enrolled in Medicare Part D.
“The first round of negotiations on 10 of the most commonly prescribed medications just concluded. The Biden-Harris administration just announced the negotiated prices, which will take effect in 2026.
“We will continue to see the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act for years to come. President Biden, Vice President Harris, and House Democrats will always put people over politics and will continue delivering for the American people.”
