Rep. Takano Delivers Over $23 Million in Infrastructure Upgrades in Riverside and Moreno Valley

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) announced that three projects in Riverside, Moreno Valley, and the Inland Empire have received a total of $23 million from the Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program.

The three projects receiving funding are:

  • MoVal Supplementary Safety Improvement Plan, Phase II, Moreno Valley, CA ($572,000)

  • South Main Street Complete Streets Project, Riverside, CA ($11,104,807)

  • Southern California Association of Governments Go Human Regional Safety Action Plan & Strategies ($12,000,000)

“I was proud to vote for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which established the SS4A Grant Program, enabling the Department of Transportation to fund important community safety projects,” said Congressman Takano. “Delivering these funds to develop comprehensive safety plans and implement infrastructure upgrades like bike lanes and high-visibility crosswalks will protect commuters and pedestrians on busy streets. It is clear that the Biden-Harris Administration is serious about achieving 0 roadway deaths byfunding projects that my constituents will see and use in their day-to-day lives.”

“Maintaining the safety of our community is paramount, and funds from this grant will be used to ensure Moreno Valley’s roads are safer than ever,” said Ulises Cabrera, Mayor of Moreno Valley. “This grant will be used to develop a Commercial Vehicle Network Safety Plan, a Traffic Signal Fiber Network Plan, and a Safe Routes to School Plan, so our pedestrians and drivers will stay safe well into the future. I want to thank Congressman Takano for this generous grant and commend him for helping us keep Moreno Valley moving in the right direction.”
