Rep. Takano Joins Calls for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to Resign
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) released the following statement after The Washington Post reported that Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied in his Senate confirmation hearing about his contacts with Russia.
“As America’s top law enforcement officer, the honesty and integrity of the U.S. Attorney General is held to the highest standard. By lying under oath in a Senate confirmation hearing, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has fallen well short of that standard. His dishonesty is particularly disturbing because it involves his contact with Russia, a country that is actively working to undermine our democracy.
“There are many questions that must be answered about the Trump administration’s relationship to the Kremlin but one thing is absolutely clear: Jeff Sessions should resign.”
