Rep. Takano Secures $20 Million to Fund the I-15 Northern Extension Project in the INVEST in America Act
Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) announced $20 million in funding for the Interstate 15 (1-15) Northern Extension project. Rep. Takano’s request for this funding was included in H.R. 2684, the INVEST in America Act, which advanced out of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure on a bipartisan basis.
“I submitted a funding request in support of the 1-15 Northern Extension project because it has the potential to create thousands of jobs across Southern California, improve mobility and better connect people to opportunities, and address our basic infrastructure needs,” said Rep. Mark Takano. “I’m pleased that funding for this project was included in the INVEST in America Act. Investing in our communities will make them safer, more efficient, and will create more opportunities for everyone. I will keep working to ensure that this funding is included in the final version of this legislation and fighting for greater investments in Riverside County.”
The INVEST in America Act is the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure’s five-year, $547 billion surface transportation reauthorization bill that directs federal investments in roads, bridges, transit and rail. This package helps meet President Joe Biden’s vision in the American Jobs Plan by investing in communities while tackling the climate crisis head-on.
This project is located on the I-15 from Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road to the Riverside-San Bernardino County Line, in the Cities of Jurupa Valley and Eastvale, California 91752, in CA-41 and CA-42.
