Takano, Padilla Hail $13 Million DOD Grant for Western Municipal Water District to Support MARB

RIVERSIDE, CA — Today, Representative Mark Takano (D-CA-39) and Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) hailed a $13,092,670 federal grant that will go to Western Municipal Water District of Riverside County to support March Air Reserve Base by upgrading the wastewater system through the replacement and expansion of the sewer force main, as part of the larger Wastewater Infrastructure Resiliency Program. The grant was approved by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation.

“March Air Reserve Base (MARB) plays an active and important role in our community, but its aging infrastructure requires investments for MARB to continue serving its pivotal role,” said Congressman Takano. “I applaud the Department of Defense for this wise and strategic investment in Western Municipal Water District that will support upgrades to MARB’s water infrastructure. This will help make sure MARB remains a top-flight base for our servicemembers to continue serving our country.”

“March Air Reserve Base has provided critical support to U.S. military readiness and air mobility operations for over a century,” said Senator Alex Padilla. “This significant federal investment to upgrade the base’s aging wastewater infrastructure is essential, not only to avoid military and California National Guard mission interruptions, but to protect the public health of our troops and neighboring Riverside County communities.”
