This Saturday: Rep. Takano to Promote Options for Affordable Health Coverage at Community Forum
Riverside, Calif. – On Saturday, December 2, Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) will join local health care experts to help residents explore and enroll in affordable health insurance plans that are currently available for 2018. The deadline for Californians to sign up for coverage is January 31, 2018, but those who want to be covered on January 1, 2018 must sign up by December 15.
The forum is free to the public and will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Riverside University Health System’s Neighborhood Clinic. Doctors and nurses from the clinic will also be on hand to offer basic no-cost health screenings and free flu vaccinations.
“Access to affordable health coverage means access to quality medical care, financial stability, and peace of mind for individuals and families in our community,” said Rep. Takano. “It is important for local residents to understand that financial assistance is available to make comprehensive health coverage affordable for any budget.”
Experts at the forum will help residents through the application process for Covered California and Medi-Cal.
“Given the confusion and misinformation regarding the status of the Affordable Care Act, this event is particularly important for giving Californians reliable information and practical support to ensure they have access to medical care in 2018.”
In addition to information and assistance with health coverage, the forum will also provide information regarding social services and community assistance programs. Representatives from Riverside County’s Medically Indigent Services Program, Cal Fresh, and the Community Action Partnership will be in attendance.
