Office of Congressman Takano held a call with the CDC and CDC Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases

The Office of Congressman Takano requested a briefing from the CDC to get answers to questions about coronavirus and updates about the repatriated U.S. Citizens from Wuhan, China at March Air Reserve Base. On Saturday, CDC Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases, Dr. Jay Butler answered their questions and provided them with more information about what is known about coronavirus and precautions being taken at March. 

During this call, the office learned that according to the Department of Defense, four military bases nationwide, other than March Air Reserve Base, have been chosen to house up to 1,000 people who may require quarantine following overseas travel in China going forward.

No new countries have reported cases of 2019-nCoV acute respiratory disease in the last 24 hours. WHO is receiving information about cases from a number of countries. As additional details become known, WHO requests countries to share information in a timely manner as specified in the guidance on Global Surveillance for human infection with novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). The first death has been reported outside of China, in the Philippines. The patient was a close contact of the first patient confirmed in the Philippines.
