Tuesday, February 4, 2020 

Following reports of additional flights being directed to California, the Office of Congressman Takano reached out to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). HHS confirmed that two flights headed to California will not be directed to March Air Reserve Base. At this point, additional people will not be sent to March, these flights will be directed to military bases in California, Colorado, and Texas – as was announced by the Department of Defense over the weekend.

Zero confirmed cases of coronavirus in Riverside County

As of 2/4/2020, the situation summary remains consistent with the information provided on 2/3/2020. The MHDOC is continuing to support operations in the field. Riverside County still has zero (0) confirmed cases of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus and there are no confirmed cases of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus on the repatriation flight (January 29) at this time.

CDC Media Telebriefing on 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) 

The CDC held a media telebriefing to provide an update to media on the 2019 Novel Coronavirus response. Nancy Messonnier, MD, Director, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases and RADM Denise Hinton, Chief Scientist, Food and Drug Administration participated on the call.

Wednesday, February 5, 2020 

On February 4, two planes departed Wuhan, China for the United States. The Department of Health and Human Services has the lead on procedures related to arrivals. The Department of State continues to encourage U.S. citizens to review their China Travel Advisory at Travel.State.gov, and to closely monitor and follow the guidance of local health authorities.

Belgium reported its first confirmed case of 2019-nCoV acute respiratory disease. WHO and partners have developed a global strategic preparedness and response plan, which outlines the public health measures that the international community can provide to support all countries to prepare for and respond to the 2019-nCoV outbreak. The overall goal of the plan is to stop further transmission of 2019-nCoV within China and to other countries, and to mitigate the impact of the outbreak in all countries.
