Rep. Takano Statement on Speaker Pelosi
Washington, DC – Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.), released the following statement today after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced she will not seek re-election to Democratic leadership:
“With a full heart I congratulate the indomitable Nancy Pelosi on her 20 years of leadership in the Democratic Caucus upon the announcement of her decision not to run for leadership re-election. Nancy is a visionary leader, a polished negotiator, and a trusted mentor.
“I am eternally grateful for her belief in me and support of me as a young Californian eager to join the ranks of public service.
“Speaker Pelosi ably handled narrow majorities, divided governments, and the immense challenges of the 21st century— and her commitment to the United States Congress and to the United States never wavered. Our democracy is indebted to Speaker Pelosi’s tenacious, prolific, and transformative leadership.”
